Write to Shoot - A D.I.Y. Short Film Class

$450.00

A five week course on the core mechanics of filmmaking, stripped down to the basics. You develop, write, prep, and plan a short film built entirely from resources you already have. Two actors you already know. A location you can use freely. Whatever camera and sound equipment you have access to, even if that’s just your phone. The course presents the full “no budget” template of how to write, shoot and edit your own film while also showing you where and how you can level up your production, equipment and crew depending on your budget, etc.

This isn’t about waiting until you have more. It’s about learning to shoot, record sound, and then store, organize, and cut your own footage, using only what’s in front of you. The goal is to leave week five ready to start shooting a short film that captures meaningful moments between two human beings.

You don’t need an idea before you start. It might even be better if you don’t. We build the story out of what you actually have access to, not the other way around.

Each week mixes instruction with real work on your own script. We write, we read drafts out loud as a group, we rewrite, and by the end you have a locked production plan, a shot list, and a shoot date.

The goal is for you to shoot ASAP after the course ends and edit on your own timeline. I’ll check in with you right before you shoot, and again after, to talk through cutting the footage yourself.

No experience needed. No budget needed. No idea needed. You’re already ready to jump in and make your film!

Tuesdays, 5 to 7:30pm Pacific. Starts November 10th
